NOWS ultimate criteria are the women’s ability to move out on their own and live independently. We also measure our achievement by the experience we can provide our residents of a different way of life where their opinions are respected and they are given the consistent message that they can be successful in life. While many may not achieve full independence when they leave the program we know from their self report that they leave with more self respect and belief that they and their children can have a better life.
NOWS operates as a family-style transitional women and children's home with a focus on:
* Helping women stabilize
* Assist with technical training and continued education.
* Providing assistance in establishing goals
* Obtaining proper medical treatment and other locally available social services
* Enrollment of children in school and day care
* Securing employment
* Developing and managing a budget
* Locating affordable permanent housing
* Completing a move on to successful independent living
